the perfect Lambert quartz glass diffusers

Diffusil light diffusers are made of a special opaque, synthetic quartz glass (99.999% SiO2). They are designed to produce a near-perfect Lambertian light distribution across a wide wavelength range – regardless of whether they are used in transmission or reflection. Diffusil diffusers are the ideal scattering element for light sources and optical sensors in the operating range of 190–3200 nm. The secret to their optical properties lies in millions of tiny gas bubbles within the ultra-pure, synthetic quartz glass. These act as optical scattering centers. With a diameter of approximately 3 µm, these gas bubbles are uniformly distributed throughout the quartz glass volume, resulting in these exceptional optical properties.

Due to this operating principle, neither surface defects nor surface contamination have any effect on the scattering behavior of diffusil diffusers. Unlike other diffuser materials, diffusil diffusers can withstand temperature shocks of several hundred degrees and harsh environmental conditions without damage. In addition to the most common form as rectangular or round, plane-parallel discs, our optical diffusers are also available in custom sizes and shapes. Special, precisely tailored scattering profiles can also be offered. Surface finishes can be selected as either "finely ground" or "polished."
